"The lifeblood of every city is a good quality of life for all.  Quality of life is what brings people to a city.  As a council, we must ask our citizens, our businesses, and industries what can we do to improve quality of life. It is the key to all of our futures and to the future of the City of Rocky Mount!"

-Pete Armstrong, candidate for Rocky Mount City Council - Ward 7

PETE'S PLATFORM

REPRESENTATION FOR ALL CITIZENS OF WARD 7

As a City Council person, I’m committed to representing all citizens of Ward 7. I reside in Northgreen, but I understand the importance of being available and visible in all the neighborhoods of the ward. I pledge to attend any meetings that other neighborhoods host and promise to represent everyone in the ward.

CRIME AND SAFETY

Crime and safety in the community is a concern for all. I support the efforts of our new Police Chief to keep citizens informed of any activities in their neighborhood. I will encourage the formation of neighborhood watch programs. I will work to connect Ward 7 citizens with the local police so that there is full transparency.

ETHICAL AND TRANSPARENT GOVERNING

As a member of the City Council, I pledge to identify any conflicts of interest with any actions I take. It is important that citizens understand the decisions made by city government and the reasons behind them. I will be open and approachable to residents of Ward 7 and the citizens. More importantly, I will be honest and demonstrate full integrity while serving as your Council member.

WORKFORCE HOUSING

Workforce Housing is a must for every community and the same can be said about Rocky Mount. All citizens should have access to housing. The growth of any community is dependent upon the availability of quality housing. The city should work with citizens to make home ownership a possibility for all.

FAIR AND EQUAL TREATMENT OF CITIZENS IN ALL WARDS

Typically in modern day politics, one group of citizens suffers at the expense of another. The city must work to provide that provides benefits to ALL citizens. We must treat each ward fairly and equally. This requires that resources be expanded and balanced across the city.

CONCERN FOR CITY EMPLOYEES

As a former city employee, I’m deeply concerned for those representing our city. The quality of service provided by our city is determined by the welfare of those providing them. Employees should be free to interact with citizens so that everyone has a clear understanding of the situation. Employees should be treated fairly and without bias.  Employees should be given the resources to do their job adequately and successfully to make a stronger community.
