MEET PETE ARMSTRONG

EXPERIENCED CITY OFFICIAL WITH A PASSION FOR ROCKY MOUNT

Pete Armstrong has been an active member of the Rocky Mount Community since 1978. During his career as a city official,  Pete and his team made many positive impacts on Rocky Mount and the surrounding areas including: successful rebuilding of community assets after Hurricane Floyd, construction of Denton Street Pool, the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences, The Rocky Mount Sports Complex, and the Rocky Mount Veterans Memorial.

Pete was born in 1953 to the late Sarah Hardison and Harvey Lawrence Armstrong of Enfield, North Carolina.  He married Margaret Jean “Jeanie” Bowden of Goldsboro, North Carolina in 1985.  They have two children, Mary Elizabeth Armstrong and Margaret Sarda (Ryan), and two grandchildren.

In his free time, he is very active in the community. He is a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rocky Mount where he has been Senior Warden, organist and currently serves as Choir Director. He has been a member of the Rocky Mount Lions Club for over 40 years. As a Lion, he has served in every office and has collected hundreds of 'Eye Wills,' working with citizens in Nash and Edgecombe Counties who need assistance with glasses.

Armstrong currently resides in Northgreen Village, where he is the President of the Northgreen Village Association. He has lived in Ward 7 for 32 years, giving him the experience and knowledge necessary to represent it on the City Council.

Pete loves his community and the City of Rocky Mount. He would absolutely love a chance to represent the City and the Ward as the next City Council member. His campaign will focus on: openness, financial responsibility and responsiveness.
